Description
Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide growth-hormone secretagogue acting selectively at the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a). It is studied in endocrine research for stimulating growth-hormone release without the cortisol, prolactin or appetite effects of earlier GHRPs.

Research summaries
Receptor selectivity of ipamorelin
Pharmacology studies characterized ipamorelin as the first GHRP with GH-release selectivity comparable to GHRH itself, showing no significant ACTH, cortisol or prolactin elevation at GH-releasing doses in animal and early human studies.
Ipamorelin selectively triggers GH release without the cortisol or prolactin effects reported for earlier GHRPs, which accounts for its frequent use in research.
GH pulsatility with secretagogue administration
Endocrine studies report that ghrelin-mimetics amplify natural pulsatile GH secretion rather than producing continuous elevation, preserving feedback regulation through somatostatin and IGF-1.
Rather than overriding feedback regulation, ipamorelin amplifies the body’s existing GH pulses.
